It was #omad Sunday. I love to make food look simple and luscious. Otherwise why call myself a great cook. No diet should be dreary. Mine is for life.
Overthinking what’s in my food has caused me stress. I am finally starting to use my Yuka app today so I can enjoy shopping and cooking again which are my favorite parts of the day.
My brother asks me am I vegan now? If I say ‘Yes. This week’ he’ll respond ‘But you love meatballs.’ I do! I also love salami and Dubliner cheese, half and half, and dark chocolate peanut butter cups from TJs. Well, a little here, a little there back in January after 4 solid years of LDL eating and it’s up now to 68. I’m on low protocols so the goal is 55.
So in early May I got strict again. Unfortunately I’m down 5 lbs but only down to 64 LDL.
I called my friend Dee who is athletic, lean and sticks to a healthy diet. Like me she’s mindful of these things. ‘What are you eating these days?’
‘If it’s a good (rating) on Yuka I buy it. If not I don’t,’ she said. She’s the smartest person I know. I’m doing it now too.
It was Dee who texted me the link last year but I hadn’t gotten into the habit of using it until Sunday.
What a relief to have fun going through the markets again. I go to see food, not read labels and keep my head buried in the aisles.
The app is #ezpz
But with a strict LDL goal I’m only buying ‘excellent.’
Download Yuka if you want to enjoy grocery shopping again.
I don’t know about the food scoring, but I used this a while back to research some cosmetics, and a good number were debunked. I would just check labels anyway!
